RIP Whitney

I grew up with “The greatest Love of All” and had watched “The Bodyguard” over and over again. So it was a shock when I woke up this morning, and the news about Whitney Houston’s death flooded my timeline on Twitter.

Her death was confirmed by her publicist Kristen Foster according to AP:

Initial CNN report says that according to  Lt Mark Rosen of the Beverly Hills Police Department, they received a 911 medical emergency call at 3:23 pm Saturday, US West Coast time  (7:23 am Sunday, Philippine time) from the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Paramedics arrived at the hotel and was brought to the fourth floor where a woman was being revived by the hotel emergency personnel. At 3:55 pm, the woman identified as Whitney Houston, 48, was pronounced dead.

Police said there no signs of any criminal involvement in the death, detectives have begun a full investigation.

Alan Duke of CNN also reported that it was her bodyguard – incidentally named Rey – found her body and called the authorities.

Tweets from various artist are coming in left and right. Filipinos mourn her death. Filipino singer Charice, known for singing Whitney Houston songs, tweeted:

Whitney Houston’s songs are always in the karaoke list in the Philippines. If you watch singing contests, there will always be a Whitney Houston song. The Bodyguard was a huge hit in the Philippines. She will always be remembered for her voice. One of the greatest artist of all time.
