Another proud day for Filipinos. Miss Philippines’ Shamcey Supsup placed 3rd runner-up in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant held at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned the 60th Miss Universe, making her the first title holder from her country.
Aside from Shamcey, the others who are part of Lopes’ entourage are Miss Ukraine Olesya Stefanko (1st runner-up), Miss Brazil Priscila Machado (2nd runner-up), and Miss China Luo Zilin (4th runner up).
During the pageant’s question and answer portion, she was asked, “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person that you love? Why or why not?”
Shamcey replied, “If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God, too.”
Good answer, but not surprising since this lady not only have beauty, but brain power as well. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines, and topped the Architect Licensure Examination.
This lady’s achievement is another proof that the Philippines has its place in the universe.
I am proud to be a Filipina!
