Skype goes down globally – again!

It started around 6:20pm PHL time, my student and I kept getting disconnected. By 8pm I was totally offline. This is the second time in two weeks that Skype booted me out, and therefore, losing all my online classes. I thought it was my connection, but I could browse the Net. So I checked and found out that it is Skype!

Skype acknowledged in a tweet posted Tuesday morning (ET), “A small number of you may have problems signing in to Skype. We’re investigating the cause, and hope to have more details to share soon.”

Well, the ‘small number’ is actually spread across the globe — Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Brazil, Belarus, and Croatia, among other places – based on user comments on Endgadget.

After about an hour, Skype updated its post:

‘More details’ linked to Heartbeat:

Well, I am still offline, and had missed all my classes tonight. My students will kill me. Thanks, Skype. Now fix it!
