Filipino ‘Fighting Congressman’ Manny Pacquiao is going to wear yellow gloves to show his support for the non-government organization Gawad Kalinga (means “give care” in Filipino).
“Officially known as the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement.
In the Philippines, Gawad Kalinga is building empowered communities by people with faith and patriotism; driven by a culture of caring and sharing, dedicated to eradicate poverty and restore human dignity.
Its mission is to end poverty for 5 million families by 2024.” – Wikipedia
Pacquiao said that boxing is not the biggest fight of his life, rather, the fight to end poverty in the Philippines.
He is urging everyone to wear yellow to show their support as well.
Pacquiao will fight Sugar Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on tomorrow morning, Manila time. The Filipinos are excited to watch the fight.
On Facebook alone, I’ve seen a lot fo my friends’ updates about PacMan and the upcoming fight. #Pacquiao-Mosley is trending on Twitter.
One thing I can say, when Filipinos support somebody, they give it their all. Even criminals cooperate. The past Pacquiao fights had been noted to have zero-crime rate in Metro Manila during the time of the fight!
And also, during a Pacquiao fight, there is absolutely no traffic on the streets of Manila. Everybody’s glued to their TVs at home, or someplace, that you can practically fly on EDSA!
Looking forward to the fight tomorrow. God bless Manny Pacquiao and Sugar Shane Mosley. May the better fighter win!
More importantly, let’s all fight to end poverty.
